Hello mes fashionistas
I hope you're doing well ! With the time change, the days getting shorter and the cold setting in, it is clear that autumn is here! And even if I moderately appreciate this season because it is a harbinger of winter, we have to find good sides in it: ankle boots are appearing (I really like them!), we are bringing out our cozy pieces, we are creating warm and comfortable outfits without compromising on style…
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not ready to abandon color for gray and black even if I'm moving towards deep or, on the contrary, softer shades. After three articles devoted to image advice and trends, I am delighted to meet you “in person” to present to you a look composed around two must-haves of the season as I mentioned in my previous article: denim and leopard print, to be consumed without moderation throughout fall-winter 2022.
Those who follow me faithfully know that I am a fan of leopard print in all its varieties of patterns and colors. I really fell in love with this trench coat. Jennyfer, purchased three years ago during an Emmaüs Alternatives kilo sale. Created in 1985 for pre-teen girls, the brand was known for offering low-end clothing at low prices. After coming close to bankruptcy following the arrival of competitors like H&M and Primark, the brand has completely revised its identity under the leadership of its new director Sébastien Bismuth since 2018.
The 2019 “Don't Call Me Jennyfer” campaign helped to restore its image: more quality products, values in tune with the times (refusal of labels, gender-neutral clothing) and collaborations with influencers like Léna Mahfouf. So of course, it remains fast fashion and it's not the type of brand I go for but I bought it second hand. I must admit that it is a beautiful garment both in its appearance and in its finishes, and I find it interesting to have chosen a fancy print on a classic piece like the trench coat!
To fully highlight my leopard trench coat, I opted for a plain, monochrome denim base: in my opinion, the raw finish is more classicand therefore more timeless, than snow effects, bleachedfaded and stonewashed which are quite 80s, 90s or 2000s. The dark blue denim also gives a more elegant character to the whole and allows you to shift the styles the way I like them.
A blend of BGBG inspiration with an artistic touch for a made both classic and trendywithout forgetting a subtle evocation of the 70s with the jeans flare and the skin bag. I don't know if you've ever felt this surprising feeling of becoming one with your clothes, the feeling of being totally in tune with your look: it's quite magical and when it happens, you know that your outfit is perfectly “aligned” to your personality.
In terms of the color palette, I chose a two-tone harmony of blue and camel. These are two complementary shades that are directly opposite each other on the color wheel: camel (just like brown, hazel, sienna, chestnut, etc.) is a darkened version of ocher-orange – which is the complement of blue – to which we added a more or less significant quantity of black.
This mix of cold and warm shades is a good compromise for my female colorimetry Cold Summer, which recommends avoiding predominantly warm shades near the face. Here, blue is the dominant color and brings the right balance. Know that I rarely wear brown as a solid color but very readily as part of an animal print when it is speckled, in monochrome or enhanced with black, because a contrasting pattern makes it more dynamic.
I really like playing with different textures to enhance my looks, and accessories are a good way to achieve this. The appearance of my outfit is quite homogeneous because it is made of denim and cotton canvas, two materials with a matte appearance. The shiny leather belt contrasts with both the color and finish of the two denim pieces. The split leather bag brings a touch of originality thanks to its bucket shape and its unique dark wood handlewhile honey-colored suede pumps with a pattern of mini gold studs balance the top and bottom of the silhouette.
Hammered metal drop earrings have sentimental value because they were one of the first gifts my lover gave me at the start of our relationship. It's a vintage pair from an unidentified brand that reminds me of certain “bling-bling” costume jewelry from the 80s, featuring a cascade of asymmetrical numbers: 2, 1, 3 on one side, 3, 6, 9 on the other. Finally, I will end by mentioning the carmine red lining of the trench which nicely enhances an otherwise rather neutral outfit.
