Chocolate-hazelnut mocha latte with a touch of salt

Chocolate-hazelnut mocha latte with a touch of salt

It's an (almost) annual tradition on this blog since 2013: when the cold season arrives, I like to offer you ideas for gourmet hot drinks in a Starbucks style, but which can be made at home – and in general, with ingredients a little healthier.

This time, I'm taking you to explore the mocha latte – like a mocha (espresso + chocolate) but with a larger quantity of milk.

In cafes, machines and coffee shops American style, they are generally made with an industrial chocolate syrup. When I wanted to prepare it at home, I had the idea of replacing it with… vegan spread (in this case that of Kazidomi which I'm using at the moment)! The richness of the texture, the chocolate-hazelnut flavor, the less sweet side than a syrup – everything seemed promising to me in this option despite its unorthodox appearance.

The result is as I imagined it: delicious and rich in taste but in no way cloying (it's all a question of proportions!), and sweet just enough – especially if you add a touch of salt for balance taste. Perfect for a comforting snack on a rainy day!

I hope you like it too!Chocolate-hazelnut mocha latte with a touch of salt

♡ INGREDIENTS

200mL barista oat or soy milk + a little to froth
2 strong espressos (60mL total)
1 tablespoon of vegan chocolate-hazelnut spread
1 pinch of fleur de sel
Cinnamon

♡ PREPARATION

In a large cup, place the spread and salt. Pour the hot espressos over it, and mix vigorously.
Heat the milk and pour it into the cup. Mix again. If you have a milk frother, you can create foam to add on top.
Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. It's ready !

And as usual, here is the visual to pin if you feel like it!
