Beauty Discoveries #36

Small French brands, solid cosmetics, anti-aging treatments, a makeup product: here is the tempting program of this new edition of my beauty discoveries and favorites, under the sign of naturalness of course!

As you will see, my selection of the day is rich in really useful references for everyday life – at least, the type of products that I personally use on a very regular basis. In this, I hope that it will allow some of you to identify good “green” basics.

Don't hesitate to let me know in the comments if you have any specific questions about this or that product!

A huge thank you to the partner brands mentioned here who support my work ♥︎

Beauty Discoveries #36

Grève Blanche Endro conditioner
In collaboration with Endro

Founded by two young Bretons, Endro is a small French brand of zero waste cosmetics with a remarkable ecological approach: recyclable packaging (cardboard) or returnable glass jars, 100% natural and certified organic short formulas, carefully sourced raw materials, and artisanal manufacturing at Lannion (notably in the city's ESAT). A real gem, in short, that I have discovered recently with great enthusiasm!

I have the pleasure of being able to test their brand new product: an organic and 100% biosourced solid conditioner, poetically named “Grève Blanche”, in the shape of a Breton puck!

It must be said that I am a big fan of the solid format for conditioners, and that I would not go back to the bottled versions for anything: it is super economical (a roller of this type can last a good part of the 'year for my mid-length hair), plastic-free, very light and practical to carry.

Endro's version is also composed of a very short, no-frills formula: a hair conditioner with very low environmental impact made from rapeseed, vegetable oils and butters, vitamin E as a preservative and a natural perfume with tropical notes.

After trying it, my first impressions of this product are very positive: it is a very solid bread which does not melt too quickly (therefore it will last a very long time in good storage conditions) but which provides just enough material on the hair for an effective emollient and detangling action: the lengths are in fact very soft and slippery when rinsed. Another good point, essential in my eyes: it does not weigh down my light hair. Finally, its fruity scent is quite sweet but very discreet, so my sensitive sense of smell supports it well. Adopted!

NUOOBOX Avril 2021
In collaboration with NUOO

The NUOO natural cosmetics box is one of the projects that I saw born with great enthusiasm several years ago (finally a beauty subscription that offered an exclusively “green” selection!). Since then, life abroad obliges, I have followed their news from afar – but when I was offered to receive the 100% eco-friendly April box “Our Dear Earth”I accepted with pleasure, sure of finding interesting references there!

For this edition committed to Earth Month, I received in my box three solid cosmetic references with planet-friendly packaging: Respire solid shampoo in travel format, an Endro deodorant balm with palmarosa (yay, Endro!), and Crystal solid toothpaste from Pachamamaï (my favorite, which I have already spoken to you about several times!). The box also contained, as always, the Nuoo magazine, a pretty card and a green surprise – here, a small organic cotton pouch to carry your soap, which I also find perfect for storing makeup remover pads in my toiletry bag.

This content seemed very relevant to me: solid cosmetics is a type of format which necessarily interests all people sensitive to natural beauty and ecology, but which constitutes a real additional step when you are used to classic textures – so what’s better than a ready-made selection to try it out! In addition, all the products included seem really useful to me, since they relate to the area of daily hygiene.

The Nuoobox is available by subscription from €16.95/month. If, however, the concept of boxes does not appeal to you, know that Nuoo also includes an e-shopwhere you can find all the selected products – and much more!

GOOD PLAN: With the code MANGOBOX the 1st box is free for any 12-month commitment (until May 31, 2021).

100% Pure Pomegranate Oil Lipstick

Perhaps you remember the Ere Perez terracotta-colored tinted balm that I told you about in my last selection of discoveries? Excited by the very 90's rendering of this type of shade, and having only one real lipstick left in my collection (which leans more towards dark raspberry), I wanted to try a more sustained reference in the same kind. Or how my viewings of Friends and X Files influenced me a little too much…!

My choice was the color “Thistle” from the 100% Pure satin lipstick range, described as a cold pinkish milk chocolate. Indeed, here we are on a sort of brown that leans towards tea pink; the result is neither completely beige nor completely red, but somewhere in between, with a very changing perception depending on the light. On me who applies it in small quantities, and absorbs the excess in a tissue for a more matte finish, the effect is even a little different. In any case, we are very close to the trends of the 90s, and the result is a little retro, just as I wanted.

Although in my case it is a product for very occasional use, I can only be fully satisfied with both its excellent coverage (it only takes a few taps to already have a very colored mouth) and its effective outfit. Note for fans of everyday red who are looking for more natural formulas!

ELMW Green Keratin Hyaluronic Acid Serum

A few weeks ago, my Mom gave me the pleasure of sending me a little surprise package, which included this serum that she loves. With its simple composition, 100% natural, vegan, fragrance-free, 96.8% organic, and its richness in hyaluronic acid of very low molecular weight (i.e. capable of penetrating deep into the epidermis), it is indeed a high quality product, for a price that I find fair. I was happy to test it immediately to compare it to my absolute favorite hyaluronic serum, that of Clémence & Vivien !

After a few weeks of use, I notice that it seems just as effective as my Clémence & Vivien, but in a very different way. Its texture is much more watery, it is fully absorbed without leaving almost any material on the surface, while Clémence & Vivien also provides a more noticeable humectant and emollient film on top of the skin.

These variations can probably be attributed to different glycerin contents, but also to the presence of extra high molecular weight hyaluronic acid in the C&V formula: if very low molecular weight hyaluronic acid offers a deep plumping action, medium to high molecular weights have a moisturizing and smoothing role on the surface, particularly around fine dehydration lines.

So at first glance I retain a slight preference for the texture of the Clémence & Vivien serum, which seems more “comforting” and soothing to me, but the effect of Green Keratin being quite promising (fresh and plump appearance, firmness), I am waiting to have used it for another month or two before really deciding. To be continued!

Exfoliating mask with fruit acids La Canopée*

If you follow my facial routines every year, you may know that I am a big fan of exfoliating masks with fruit acids to maintain the radiance and softness of my skin. This is in fact the only type of scrub that I use, in order to avoid the irritating side of classic scrubs, which are not very recommended on my reactive skin.

I have been using for several months Seasonly brand cell phone, whose texture I love, but which is a little too fragrant for my taste, and not organic; This is why I happily took advantage of a Kazidomi promo code to receive one from La Canopée, a small brand that I always hear a lot of good things about. Verdict: I love their version for its equally clear effectiveness, its qualitative and minimalist composition, and the absence of added perfume which is very appreciable!

Its only fault, ultimately, is that it is much more expensive than that of Seasonly, at €25 for 50mL – even if this is of course partly explained by the organic quality of the ingredients.

NB: If you are a member Cassidy (I told you about the concept here), note that the price is much lower for us, at €18.75 for 50mL. And if you are not yet a Kazidomi member but you are interested in membership, know that you can receive this 30mL format for free by taking membership next April 27 and 28: just enter the code GIFT at the time of your order (cumulative with my code MANGO20 which gives you this membership at 60€ instead of 80€). I'll do a little reminder in an Instagram story on Tuesday, but you've been warned!

Endro Lemon Toothpaste*

Zero waste but close to the paste texture to which most of us are accustomed, the artisanal toothpaste range offered by Endro works with an ultra simple and natural certified organic formula: calcium carbonate (blanc de Meudon), vegetable glycerin, a very mild surfactant from coconut, all thickened with an algae extract. Intrigued by this fundamentally ecological option, I wanted to try the lemon version (citrus passion), and I don't regret my attempt at all!

The almost gel-like consistency of the paste is surprising at first glance, but in the mouth, it is perfectly pleasant, soft while being effective, without a “powdery” sensation or bitter taste as is sometimes the case in homemade toothpastes based on bicarbonate. Its foaming capacity is average, like most organic toothpastes of this type, but you get used to it quickly, and with the right amount of material, this does not prevent the teeth from coming out very clean and smooth. . Finally, I am a huge fan of the lemon flavor, very authentic since it is an essential oil: it is fresh without the slightly more aggressive “kiss cool” side of mint, and that makes me happy !

Last very good point, of course: the canning jar, which I can reuse in the kitchen once the toothpaste is finished.

♡ Madará anti-aging tinted sunscreen SPF30

Some of you may recognize this cream, a real favorite that I have been loyal to for two years. While I have been using it almost daily for a few weeks again, it deserves to appear among my favorites!

It's THE facial sunscreen product that I like for the city: I appreciate its light tint which neutralizes the whitening effect of mineral filters and unifies the skin, its smoothing effect, its absolute comfort (the more powdery or matte formulas become quickly drying on me), its very light perfume, and even its glowy finish – which I do not powder, except possibly in the T zone. Finally, its composition with advanced moisturizing and anti-aging active ingredients makes it a real treatment, ideal for my dehydrated skin in my thirties.

I mix a small dab of it every morning with my day cream to ensure a minimum of protection, and if I go out in the sun, I reapply more generously.

To note: this is the only product in this selection that is not vegan, because it contains a small amount of beeswax.

PS: If you are a Kazidomi member, know that the brand Madará is -15% all year round on the site. Otherwise, watch for factory sales at Madara twice a year, I got my tube for €15.95 via this channel!
